West Hollywood Visitor’s Bureau had just launched a brand new responsive website targeted at visiting tourists. While the site looked and worked well on desktop, the mobile responsive version had a lot of issues that needed to be worked out.

Maps are overwhelming visually
Map isn’t relevant to time and location
Gray pins disappear against satellite imagery
Filter list too long causing scrolling, hides ‘close’

Solution
Make map relevant to location and time of day
Reduce friction
Display selected pin details directly below map
Disable satellite image option to clean up UI
Use colored pins for visual pop
